Ninjutsu~ A-G

A

Armor of Sand
Name: Suna no Yoroi, , literally "Armor of Sand" or "Sand Armor"
Type: No rank, Defensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Gaara
Using this jutsu, Gaara can cover himself in a compacted layer of sand, providing an additional defense should his Shield of Sand fail. Though quite effective, maintaining the armor requires a large amount of chakra and stamina.

Armor of Sticky Gold
Name: Nenkin no Yoroi,, literally "Armor of Sticky Gold"
Type: Hiden, No rank, Defensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Kidomaru
By excreting his Sticky Gold from his pores, Kidomaru can quickly create a temporary armor that once exposed to oxygen, is capable of blocking chakra.

B

Beast Human Clone

Kiba (bottom) and Akamaru (top) performing Human Beast Clone
Name: Jūjin Bunshin, , literally "Beast Human Clone", "Man Beast Clone"
Type: D-rank, Supplementary
Users: Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru together
A modified version of a transformation technique, this jutsu allows a user to transform their animal companion into a perfect copy of themselves. When combined with the Four Legs Technique, the user and the animal become virtually impossible to tell apart, since both act equally animalistic. Like any transformation, the jutsu can be broken by identifying and attacking the animal, thus dispelling the transformation. This jutsu is often followed by the Double Piercing Fang.

Black Secret Technique Machine One Shot
Name: Kurohigi Kiki Ippatsu, , literally "Black Secret Technique Machine One Shot"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Kankuro
To perform this jutsu, Kankuro's opponent must be trapped in the torso of Kuroari. After this is accomplished, Karasu separates into about eight components, each with a sharp blade. Kankuro guides the separate pieces into slits in Kuroari's torso, impaling the victim inside. The name of this secret technique is a play on a popular Japanese toy "Kurohige Kiki Ippatsu" [1], known in America as "Pop-Up Pirate," in which the goal of the toy is to stick little plastic swords into a barrel to make the pirate in the center jump out. In the second Naruto movie, Kuroari can do this technique alone using Black Secret Technique Machine Two Shot.

Body Flicker Technique
Name: Shunshin no Jutsu, , literally "Body Flicker Technique"
Type: D-rank, Supplementary
Users: Most, if not all ninja above Genin level
This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short distances at an almost untraceable speed. To an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily boost the user's reflexes. The amount of chakra required depends on the overall distance between the user and their intended destination. Shisui Uchiha, one of the most talented Uchiha, was feared as "Shisui of the Body Flicker" (, Shunshin no Shisui?) , likely referring to this technique.
The Body Flicker technique has various variations among the different hidden villages, all of which involve some extra element aside from the movement itself. The extra element is usually some sort of substance used to distract the opponent, such as leaves or sand. Gaara, for instance, uses the "Sand Body Flicker" (, Suna-Shunshin?), which uses sand to cover his movements. Other varieties include the "Mist Body Flicker" (, Kiri-Shunshin?), "Water Body Flicker" (, Mizu-Shunshin?), and "Leaf Body Flicker" (, Konoha-Shunshin?).

Body Replacement Technique
Name: Kawarimi no Jutsu,, literally "Body Replacement Technique", "Change of Body Technique", "Change of Stance Technique", or "Replacement Technique", English TV "Replacement Jutsu" or "Substitution Jutsu"
Type: E-rank, Supplementary
Users: All Ninja Academy graduates
This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, or even another person within reach, leaving the opponent open to a counter-attack. Explosive tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise. Fundamentally, all ninja know this technique.
The anime has a number of other objects being used for this jutsu, such as a boulder, mud, a scarecrow, and even a large rolled-up carpet. These items are usually nowhere in sight, suggesting that they are merely gags meant to lighten up the situation and not an actual part of the jutsu. Additionally, the normal practice of switching places with a section of log is done in several places that have no such thing anywhere nearby.
This technique is sometimes referred to as the Art of Projection ("Utsusemi no Jutsu") in other manga and anime series.

Bug Clone Technique
Name: Mushi Bunshin no Jutsu, , literally "Bug Clone Technique" or "Bug Replication Technique"
Type: Hiden, No rank, Supplementary
Users: Shino Aburame
Using the Kikaichu bugs living in their body, the user can create a copy of themselves or anyone else they choose. The clone falls apart into its component bugs when struck. Because they're made of bugs, the clones can reform almost instantly.

Chakra Absorption Technique
Name: Chakra Kyūin Jutsu, , literally "Chakra Absorption Technique"
Type: Unknown
Users: Yoroi Akado, Jirobo
This jutsu allows the user to absorb the physical and spiritual energy of an opponent. The user doesn't have to actually touch the opponent, since it is also possible to use it through other media, as Jirobo did with his Earth Release Barrier: Dungeon Chamber of Nothingness. The only necessary condition is some medium through which chakra can be channeled.
The Chakra Absorption Technique is not truly considered a jutsu since it has never been given an entry in any of the databooks, but more of a special ability; however, it is not considered a kekkei genkai ability, either.

Chidori Sasuke using Chidori

Sasuke using Chidori
Name: Chidori, , literally "One Thousand Birds"
Type: A-rank, Offensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Kakashi Hatake, Sasuke Uchiha
This jutsu is Kakashi's only original technique, though he now uses an S-ranked version known as the Lightning Blade. He created it around the time he was promoted to Jonin, and later taught it to Sasuke. This jutsu channels a large amount of chakra into the user's arm. The amount of chakra is so great that it becomes visible to the naked eye. The technique actually alters the nature of the user's chakra, effectively converting it into electricity. As a side effect of the conversion process, the large amount of chakra, and the speed at which the user moves, this technique makes a loud noise similar to many birds chirping, hence the name (if the user is not in motion, it merely makes an electric crackling sound). Once the technique is completed, the user charges forward and stabs their enemy with it. The amount of thrust combined with the large concentration of chakra allows the user to stab through almost anything; as such it is usually fatal to the enemy. This technique is classified as an assassination technique because of the speed at which it is performed, despite the loud noise it produces.
This jutsu has a major drawback, however. The speed at which the attack must be done, combined with the fact that the user must run in a straight line, causes a tunnel vision-like effect for the user. This allows their enemy to easily counter the attack, making it a potentially lethal move for the user. Though this drawback would seem to make learning the technique fairly pointless, Sasuke and Kakashi are able to avoid the drawback because of their Sharingan eyes, which take in every detail regardless of how fast the user is moving. As an additional drawback, the large amount of chakra required limits its use to a few times a day (two for Sasuke, four for Kakashi). Sasuke can manage one more than normal with the use of his cursed seal. Should the user attempt to go beyond their limit, all of their chakra will be drained and their very life force could go along with it, killing them. An additional problem, though not necessarily a debilitating one, is the fact that the large amount of chakra can also injure the user's hand if they put too much force into the attack. Sasuke does this while battling his brother, Itachi, causing some of the skin to peel from his hand and leaving it slightly smoldering after the attack was finished.
In real history, Chidori was the name of katana owned by famous samurai Dousetsu Tachibana. The legend says that one day Dousetsu was nearly hit by a lightning bolt while taking shelter from rain under a tree. He escaped by using his katana, Chidori, to split the lightning in half. Thereafter the name of the katana was changed to Raikiri , in this context meaning "lightning cutter". Chidori also means plover.

Chidori Current
Name: Chidori Nagashi,, literally "One Thousand Birds Current"
Type: Unknown
Users: Sasuke Uchiha
A variation on a regular Chidori developed by Sasuke during his two-and-a-half year training with Orochimaru, this jutsu allows Sasuke to cover himself in electricity, instead of just concentrating it in his hand. The electricity can be channeled anywhere, allowing Sasuke to enhance his attacks with it. Because it is channeled throughout his entire body and not concentrated, the electricity will only cause temporary paralysis instead of killing an opponent. While this is not a problem in one-on-one battles, it does allow others to save their comrade if Sasuke is outnumbered. Sasuke can also channel the electricity through his Kusanagi sword, increasing its overall strength and cutting power.

Cloak of Invisibility Technique
Name: Kakuremino no Jutsu, , literally "Cloak of Invisibility Technique", English (Card Game) "Disguise Jutsu"
Type: E-rank, Supplementary
Users: All Ninja Academy graduates
This jutsu allows a ninja to take a cloak or a piece of cloth and blend into an object, making them invisible. Konohamaru uses this technique constantly in the beginning of the Naruto series to try and fool Naruto Uzumaki, but uses poor disguises (square rocks with eyeholes, cloaks that are incorrectly patterned or the wrong way round, or simply not covering himself completely), thus betraying the illusion. In the anime, Naruto has been somewhat practical at using this jutsu a couple of times.

Clone Great Explosion

Name: Bunshin Daibakuha, , literally "Clone Great Explosion",Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 "Shadow Clone: Smash"
Type: A-rank, Offensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Itachi Uchiha
This jutsu works in combination with the Shadow Clone Technique to create a shadow clone that will explode on command. The blast created is considerable, and could potentially kill an attacker engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

Clone Technique
Name: Bunshin no Jutsu,, literally "Clone Technique", English TV "Clone Jutsu", UK DVD "Art of Body Splitting"
Type: E-rank, Supplementary
Users: All Ninja Academy graduates
This technique creates intangible clones of the user. The clones are simply illusions and will dissipate when they come into contact with something. The illusions can be seen through by the Byakugan and the Sharingan. A person with normal eyes can also distinguish the clones from the original, since the clones will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement (won't kick up dust, crush grass, etc.).

Combination Transformation
Name: Konbi Henge, , literally "Combination Transformation"
Type: B-rank, Supplementary
Users: Naruto Uzumaki, Gamabunta, Sound Four, Kiba Inuzuka, Akamaru
An advanced form of the Transformation Technique, the Combination Transformation transforms two users into one being. One user usually provides the chakra while the other performs the necessary hand seals. Naruto uses this with Gamabunta in their fight against Gaara's full Shukaku form to become a giant fox. Kiba and Akamaru use a variation of this technique in their fight against Sakon and Ukon, transforming themselves into a giant two-headed wolf. The Sound Four used this during the Chunin Exam to disguise themselves as the Kazekage's two bodyguard attendants (two in each).

Creation Rebirth
Name: Sōzō Saisei, , literally "Creation Rebirth" or "Creation Regeneration" (a.k.a. "Genesis Rebirth"), English TV "Ninja Art: Mitotic Regeneration"
Type: S-rank, Supplementary
Users: Tsunade
By releasing chakra that has been stored up for a relatively long period of time in the seal on her forehead with Shadow Seal: Release, Tsunade is able to heal all her wounds almost instantaneously, regardless of the severity of the injuries. She can even regrow lost organs and limbs if necessary. Additionally, she continues to heal at an accelerated rate for the duration of the jutsu. Unfortunately, this technique has a drawback; using it speeds up cell division, and it shortens her life span. It's also demonstrated that it takes alot of chakra, dispelling the jutsu that she uses to disguise her age.

D

Dead Soul Technique
Name: Shikon no Jutsu, , literally "Dead Soul Technique", English TV "Dead Soul Jutsu"
Type: B-rank, Supplementary, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Kabuto Yakushi
Using this jutsu, a person can temporarily reanimate a corpse, creating the illusion of a living person. This is achieved by causing the heart to beat once more, allowing the user to control the corpse. The reanimated corpse can serve as either a short-time ally or an effective decoy.

Desert Coffin
Name: Sabaku Kyū, , literally "Desert Coffin", Viz "The Coffin of Crushing Sand", English TV "Sand Coffin"
Type: No rank, Offensive, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Gaara
This jutsu uses sand to grab the opponent and cover their entire body. This skill is primarily utilized for rendering an opponent immobile, but can kill the opponent by suffocation or by being followed with the Desert Funeral, which crushes them.
It should be noted that Gaara crushed Rock Lee's left arm and leg during their battle in the Chunin Exams, and crushed Deidara's arm in the Rescue Gaara Arc, with just Desert Coffin, implying that Desert Coffin itself has its own crushing effect. However, Gaara makes the hand motion that he typically makes when using Desert Funeral in this particular instance.

Desert Funeral
Name: Sabaku Sōsō, , literally "Desert Funeral" (a.k.a. "Desert Graveyard"), Viz "Imploding Sand Funeral", English TV "Sand Burial"
Type: No rank, Offensive, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Gaara
After wrapping an opponent with sand, Gaara will cause the sand to implode and crush whatever is within. When used to kill a person, the death is so quick that there isn't even time to feel pain. The pressure also produces a sizable fountain of blood. Gaara can control the pressure used in the attack, which allows him to merely break bones or completely liquefy an opponent.

Desert Imperial Funeral
Name: Sabaku Taisō,, literally "Desert Imperial Funeral"
Type: No rank, Offensive, All ranges
Users: Gaara
Following the Quicksand in the Style of a Waterfall, Gaara slams both hands palm down into the sand, creating powerful shockwaves that compress the sand. Anything buried in the sand is subsequently crushed.

Desert Prison
Name: Sabaku Rō, , literally "Desert Prison"
Type: Unknown
Users: Gaara
This jutsu is a massive version of Gaara's Desert Coffin, using an entire desert's worth of sand to trap an opponent.

Desert Suspension
Name: Sabaku Fuyū, , literally "Desert Suspension"
Type: No rank, Supplementary
Users: Gaara
Using his sand as a platform, Gaara is able to float in the air.

Destruction Bug Host Technique (Shino Aburame with his bugs)

The bugs inhabiting Shino's body
Name: Kikaichū no Jutsu,, literally "Destruction Bug Host Technique" English TV "Parasitic Insects Jutsu"
Type: Hiden, No rank, Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary, All ranges
Users: Aburame clan
The Aburame clan is famed for their use of insects in their jutsu. When a child is born, their body is offered to insects, called destruction bugs, as a nest. The bugs feed and live off the chakra that the body stores and in return the ninja gets to control and command the bugs, using them as their primary fighting technique. These bugs have the ability to drain chakra through physical contact with the enemy.
Drowning Maelstrom Technique
Name: Kufū Suika no Jutsu, literally "Drowning Maelstrom Technique"
Type: Unknown
Users: Naruto Uzumaki and Yamato together
This jutsu combines Yamato's Water Release: Rapid Crasher with Naruto's Wind Release: Rasengan to create a powerful waterspout.
E

Earth Release Barrier: Dungeon Chamber of Nothingness
Name: Doton Kekkai: Dorōdōmu, literally "Earth Release Barrier: Dungeon Chamber of Nothingness"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Supplementary, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Jirobo
This jutsu traps the victims inside a self-repairing dome of earth. Jirobo is able to absorb the chakra of anyone trapped inside, something he enjoys greatly. Jirobo's chakra is distributed throughout the dome, but not equally. Near the back (relative to him), less chakra is present, making the dome weaker in that spot.

Earth Release: Earth Flow Rampart
Name: Doton: Doryū Jōheki, , literally "Earth Release: Earth Flow Rampart"
Type: Unknown
Users: Yamato
This jutsu raises a large ridge or hill from the ground. Yamato uses this technique along with Water Release: Waterfall Basin Technique while demonstrating elemental chakra types to Naruto, creating a waterfall as an example.

Earth Release: Earth Mausoleum Dumpling
Name: Doton: Doryū Dango, , literally "Earth Release: Earth Mausoleum Dango"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Jirobo
Jirobo is able to overturn the earth into a large dumpling-shaped chunk of earth the size of a mausoleum. Using his immense strength, he can lift up the ball and hurl it at his opponent, flattening everything in its path.

Earth Release: Earth Shore Return
Name: Doton: Doroku Gaeshi, , literally "Earth Release: Earth Shore Return"
Type: C-rank, Defensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Jirobo
After striking the ground with his hands, Jirobo creates a large wall of earth that rises into place as defense. The defense is not perfect though, since a hard or drilling impact can puncture the wall.

Earth Release: Earth Style Wall
Name: Doton: Doryūheki, , literally "Earth Release: Earth Style Wall", English TV "Earth Style: Mud Wall Jutsu"
Type: B-rank, Defensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Third Hokage
The user spits out a stream of mud that quickly grows and solidifies into a strong, protective wall.

Earth Release: Inner Decapitation Technique
Name: Doton: Shinjū Zanshu no Jutsu, , literally "Earth Release: Inner Decapitation Technique", Viz "Earth Style: Groundhog Technique Decapitation", English TV "Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu"
Type: D-rank, Supplementary, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Kakashi Hatake, Third Hokage, Oki, Tobi, Kabuto Yakushi
The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground.

Earth Release: Rock Lodging Destruction
Name: Doton: Iwayado Kuzushi, , literally "Earth Release: Rock Lodging Destruction"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, All ranges
Users: Kakko
This jutsu dislodges rocks above an opponent to crush them.

Earth Release: Split Earth Turn Around Palm
Name: Doton: Retsudotenshō, , literally "Earth Release: Split Earth Turn Around Palm"
Type: C-rank, Offensive, All ranges
Users: Iwagakure ninja
This technique causes the ground surrounding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them.

Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld
Name: Doton: Yomi Numa,, literally "Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld", English "Earth Style: Dark Swamp"
Type: A-rank, Offensive, All ranges
Users: Jiraiya
This jutsu turns a large area of land into a sinking swampland, making it impossible for anyone or anything in that area to move around. The size of the swamp is proportionate to the amount of chakra used to perform the technique. When performed by a drugged Jiraiya, this technique only created a large, semi-deep swamp that merely inhibited the movement of the snakes it was targeting. When performed properly, it is supposed to engulf the target completely.

Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique
Name: Doton: Dochū Eigyo no Jutsu, , literally "Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique", English "Earth Style: Underground Move Jutsu" English games "Underground Reflecting Fist Jutsu"
Type: C-rank, Supplementary
Users: Kagari, Oboro, Mubi, Kagero, Kabuto Yakushi (Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles)
Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent.

Exploding Tag: Activate
Name: Jibaku Fuda: Kassei, , literally "Exploding Tag: Activate", English TV "Paper Bomb: Activate"
Type: Unknown
Users: All Ninja Academy graduates
Utilizing chakra, the user is able to activate the explosion mechanism of a distant bomb tag. The exploding tags that the Third Hokage used were different than the usual bomb tags, being yellow in color instead of white with a red border.

F

Feigning Sleep
, literally "Feigning Sleep Technique" (a.k.a. "Tanuki Sleep Technique"), English TV "Play Possum Jutsu"
Type: No rank, Supplementary
Users: Gaara
Once Gaara assumes his full Shukaku form, he can use this jutsu to put himself to sleep, allowing Shukaku's spirit to take over.

Fire Release: Ash Product Burning
Name: Katon: Haisekishō, , literally
"Fire Release: Ash Product Burning"
Type: Unknown
Users: Asuma Sarutobi
Unlike other fire-based jutsu, this jutsu allows the user to breathe out a cloud of superheated ash capable of causing third-degree burns. Because it is ash and not flame, the ash remains in the air around the target, and therefore remains potent for a longer period.

Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique
Name: Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu, , literally "Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique", English TV "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu"
Type: C-rank, Offensive, Mid-range (5-10m)
Users: Sasuke Uchiha, Anko Mitarashi
The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object. While the technique is shown in the anime to be even larger and more devastating than Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, in the manga it is shown to be nothing more than a small burst of flame running along a line of wire.

Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Missile
Name: Katon: Karyū Endan, , literally "Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Missile", English TV "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Bomb"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Short to mid-range (0-10m)
Users: Third Hokage
This technique exhales a long stream of incredibly hot fire from the user's mouth, not unlike that of a flamethrower.

Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique
Name: Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu, , literally "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique", Viz "Fire Style: Blaze Of Glory", English TV "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu"
Type: C-rank, Offensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Most Uchiha clan members, Jiraiya, Aoba Yamashiro, Oki, Kakashi Hatake
Utilizing a large amount of chakra, a large ball of flame is exhaled from the user's mouth. When an Uchiha clan member masters this technique, they are recognized as an adult. This technique also seems to be fairly common amongst Konoha's Chunin-level ninja.

Fire Release: Intense Pain
Name: Katon: Zukokku, , literally "Fire Release: Intense Pain"
Type: Unknown
Users: Kakuzu's lion mask
After being released from Kakuzu's back, the lion mask can blow a massive blast of flame from its mouth which spreads quickly across the ground, devastating a wide area.

Fire Release: Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique
Name: Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu, , literally "Fire Release: Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique", English TV "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu", Viz "Fire Style - Art of the Dragon's Breath, Phoenix Technique"
Type: C-rank, Offensive, Short range (0-5m)
Users: Sasuke Uchiha, Oki, Itachi Uchiha
This jutsu sends multiple balls of fire at a target. It is also possible to hide shurikens within the fireballs, creating an unexpected secondary surprise attack. For the most part, however, this jutsu is used as a distraction. Oki's form is less effective, shown when Naruto just brushed it away.

Fire Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet
Name: Katon: Gamayu Endan, , literally "Fire Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet", English "Fire Style: Toad Flame Bomb"
Type: B-rank, Offensive, All ranges
Users: Jiraiya or Naruto Uzumaki with Gamabunta
Gamabunta spits out a large amount of oil, which is then ignited by the user. Jiraiya uses Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique to ignite the oil while Naruto uses an exploding tag since he doesn't know any fire techniques. The sheer amount of oil Gamabunta is capable of spitting allows this jutsu to reach further and cover a much larger area than any other known fire jutsu.

Flapping Chidori
Name: Habataku Chidori, , literally "Flapping One Thousand Birds"
Type: Unknown
Users: Sasuke Uchiha
Using the power gained through the level 2 form of his Cursed Seal of Heaven, the Chidori that Sasuke Uchiha was taught to use as a "blade" to protect his comrades is warped into a dark version of itself that is used to sever his ties with them. In contrast to the usual chirping of birds that the Chidori is known for, this technique emits a noise much like that of a large number of birds taking flight. Its power far surpasses that of the normal Chidori.

Flying Thunder God Technique
Name: Hiraishin no Jutsu, , literally "Flying Thunder God Technique"
Type: S-rank, Supplementary, All ranges
Users: Fourth Hokage
This jutsu was created by the Fourth Hokage and the reason behind his nickname, "The Yellow Flash of Konoha" (, Konoha no Kīroi Senkō?). It allows the user to move over large distances with ultra-high speed. Although it is often compared with the Body Flicker Technique, the speed of this jutsu is much greater. In principle, it is similar to the Summoning Technique, but instead of bringing something to users, it sends them somewhere. Additionally, it makes no noise and produces no puff of smoke, allowing the user to appear behind someone unnoticed.
To activate this jutsu, the user needs a special seal or "jutsu formula" (, jutsu-shiki?) to mark the destination. After this is done, the user can almost instantaneously transport himself to that location. The Fourth applied the formula in advance to weapons such as kunai. It is also possible to leave a formula in an area touched by the user.
This technique is the reason Konoha came out victorious in the Iwa-Konoha Ninja War. After having his subordinates toss marked kunai randomly into the enemy ranks, the Fourth used the technique to appear within their ranks and slaughter them one by one before they could even react.
The Japanese name Hiraishin is also the phonic of the Japanese word which means lightning rod.

Four Legs Technique
Name: Shikyaku no Jutsu, , literally "Four Legs Technique" (a.k.a. "Down on All Fours Technique"), English TV "All-Fours Jutsu"
Type: D-rank, Supplementary
Users: Kiba Inuzuka
This technique gives some increase of strength and speed to the user, as well as lengthening their nails into claws. Travel in this mode is somewhat akin to a dog's fast run. Users of this technique also tend to act more feral when using it.

G

Great Ball Rasengan
Name: Ōdama Rasengan, , literally "Great Ball Spiraling Sphere"
Type: Unknown
Users: Naruto Uzumaki
This is simply a larger and more powerful version of the Rasengan, but also more unstable. Naruto needs a clone to form and control the energy. According to the anime, Naruto develops this technique at the encouragement of Jiraiya to take the Rasengan to a higher level. Naruto uses this jutsu to defeat Yura disguised as Itachi Uchiha by way of the Shapeshifting Technique. This is the one and only instance this jutsu has been seen.

Kekkei genkai~ Blood line Trait

In the Naruto anime and manga series, a kekkei genkai , kekkei genkai?literally "blood inheritance limit" or "[an ability] limited to blood inheritance," also called a "bloodline limit," "advanced bloodline," or "bloodline trait") is any property passed down genetically through a specific clan that cannot be imitated or duplicated by any normal method, although it might be possible to copy it using genetic manipulation or organ transplantation. Kekkei genkai are often beneficial, and are employed commonly by shinobi to improve their chances in battle or other challenging situations.
The eagerness with which the rulers of nations have taken advantage of shinobi with kekkei genkai for the purposes of furthering war efforts has taken its toll on their reputation, to such a degree that many in the Naruto world automatically associate kekkei genkai with war and pain. It eventually reached the point of outright fear and hatred, resulting in witch-hunts and systematic murders of families and individuals with kekkei genkai.

Byakugan~ ( Neji's Eye)

The Byakugan (, Byakugan? literally "White Eye," Viz "Evil Eye") is a special pupil condition (, Dōjutsu?, literally "eye technique") that naturally occurs in members of the Hyuga clan (and thus only characters from the Hyuga clan possess it). Byakugan users are characterized by their lavender, pupil-less eyes. When the Byakugan is activated, their pupils somewhat appear and the veins near their temples bulge.
A person with the Byakugan has a nearly 360 degree field of vision except for a small blind spot behind the first thoracic vertebra (near the back of the neck), which is its only known weakness. Byakugan users can detect anything around them within a 50-meter radius (although Neji Hyuga manages to increase the radius to over 800 meters during the timeskip), making them close-range combat experts. The Byakugan also gives the user the ability to see through basically any matter over extremely long distances. This seems to be a combination of x-ray and thermographic vision, as Hinata Hyuga notes in the Bikochu filler arc that objects can be difficult to see if their temperature is the same as the objects around them. A small degree of telescopic vision is also present, as a Byakugan user can focus on a single object at any point within their range of vision. The degree of focus seems to be dependent on the skill of the user. The Byakugan's sight cannot be blocked, except in the case of something like Ranmaru's kekkei genkai ability, unlike the Sharingan, which can be blocked by any sufficiently opaque substance. It is however, possible to impede it slightly through the use of certain powerful seals. The Byakugan's insight capacity makes it useful for searching, tracking, and identifying targets.
One of the most powerful aspects of the Byakugan is the ability to see the inner chakra coil system, which is the key aspect of using the Gentle Fist style to attack said system. If sufficiently developed, the Byakugan is able to see individual chakra points, potentially allowing the user to shut off the opponent's chakra flow completely, such that the opponent cannot perform techniques that require chakra. However, the user can increase chakra flow as well. Seasoned Byakugan users are even capable of killing with a single blow.
Protection of the Byakugan ability is very important to the Hyuga clan, and has led to the development of an elaborate family hierarchy. The Hyuga clan is divided into two houses: the main house (, sō-ke?) and the branch house (, bun-ke?). The branch house's main purpose is to protect the main house and the secrets of the Byakugan. Branch house members' abilities and freedom are restricted through the means of a cursed seal that is placed on every branch house member's forehead. Through the means of a special technique that only main house members know, the seal can be activated, destroying the brain cells of the person branded with the seal. This allows the main house to make the branch house subordinate to its wishes. In addition, whenever a branch house member dies, the cursed seal will also seal the Byakugan ability so that enemies will not be able to discover the secrets of the bloodline limit if Konoha's hunter-nin are unable to find and dispose the body before the enemy finds it.
There are several techniques developed specifically for Byakugan users, which complement and make use of the Byakugan's abilities – most notable among which are the defensive barrier technique Eight Trigram Palms Heavenly Spin and the high-speed precision attack Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.

Hyoton~ (Haku)

Young Haku manipulating water
Haku's kekkei genkai, Hyoton , Hyōton?, literally "Ice Release," dubbed "Haku's Secret Arts of Water" by Viz) allowed him to combine wind and water-based chakra to create ice, which he could manipulate through willpower alone, as seen in the anime from a flashback where he was manipulating water in his hands and again when he uses water to create a field of icicles through his house by freezing water. The ice Haku created was largely immune to fire-based attacks, only melting slightly when coming into contact with flames. Using his special ability, Haku developed the Demonic Ice Mirrors (, Makyō Hyō Shō?, English TV "Crystal Ice Mirrors"), which allowed him to create any number of mirrors made of ice to use as a shield or trap an opponent. Haku could enter these mirrors and move between them almost instantaneously, allowing him to easily attack others and not worry about being countered.
In the first Naruto movie, several of the Yukigakure ninja also had the ability to use Hyoton techniques. However, this was not the product of a similar kekkei genkai, as demonstrated by Kakashi's ability to replicate one of these jutsu with his Sharingan. In addition, unlike Haku, who could create his own ice, the Hyoton jutsu used in the movie required the users to manipulate already existing ice.

Kurama clan's kekkei genkai~
Every few generations a member of the Kurama clan will be born with an incredible talent for genjutsu. The clan member's talent in that field is such that their genjutsu is completely irresistible, so much so that only knocking a person out cold has any chance of awakening them from it. Furthermore, the genjutsu is so powerful that it causes the brain to make anything that happens to the victim within the genjutsu physically real, allowing the clan member to potentially kill their opponents with genjutsu. Such frightening power is not without its drawbacks, however. The user can rarely control the full extent of their abilities, and as such their subconscious will often regulate that power, leading to the creation of a second personality in control of that power. This personality then overwhelms the original, turning the individual into a monster that's a danger to everyone around them.

Mokuton~

The First Hokage utilizing a Mokuton technique.
The Mokuton (, Mokuton? literally "Wood Release") jutsu are techniques that combine earth and water-based chakra to create wood. Mokuton techniques can be produced from anywhere, including the user's body, as the user's chakra is literally converted into a source of life. The First Hokage was the originator of this ability, evidenced by the fact that none of his relatives have been shown capable of using Mokuton. The First's ability to use Mokuton was the reason for his being given the title of Hokage, and with Wood Release Secret Technique: Birth of Dense Woodland (, Mokuton Hijutsu: Jukai Kōtan?, English TV "Secret Earth Jutsu: Deep Forest Creation") he was able to grow the trees that served as the foundation of Konohagakure.
Orochimaru desired the First's Mokuton abilities, and injected the First's DNA into 60 test subjects in an attempt to replicate the ability. Yamato was the only test subject to survive, and is the only known living user of Mokuton. Yamato has been shown to be quite adept with the ability, and has performed a number of Mokuton abilities since his introduction. With the Wood Clone Technique (, Moku Bunshin no Jutsu?), Yamato can create a copy of himself made of wood to carry out tasks he is unable to do at the moment. He can also perform Wood Locking Wall (, Moku Jōheki?) to create a half-dome used either to block attacks or capture others. The Four Pillars Technique (, Shichūrō no Jutsu?) can serve a similar purpose, as it creates a large wooden cage with which to confine the opponent. Yamato has also been shown to use his abilities for creature comforts, such as using Four Pillars House Technique (, Shichūka no Jutsu?) to create a house for him to camp out in.
A possibly unrelated technique, but unique to the First and Yamato, is the Hokage-Style Sixty-year-old Technique: Enclosed Hermitage Return to Society (, Hokage Shiki Jijun Jutsu: Kakuan Nitten Suishu?). This jutsu produces a seal (, "seat") on the user's hand that can suppress a tailed beast's influence over its host. This is done by producing wooden dragons from the ground that attach to the host and force the tailed beast's chakra to recede. The First Hokage's crystal necklace aids in this technique's execution, but its exact role is unclear.

Ranmaru's kekkei genkai~

Ranmaru has a kekkei genkai ability similar to the Byakugan and Zetsu's spying technique. Its powers allow him to see through solid objects, nightvision, and create illusions with chakra circulatory systems. It also allows him to interfere with the workings of the Byakugan, and has other vaguely defined powers regarding vision. When activated, Ranmaru's eyes momentarily glow red. Not much else is known about his kekkei genkai

Sharingan~

Kakashi's Sharingan.
The Sharingan (, Sharingan? literally "Copy Wheel Eye," Viz "Mirror Wheel Eye") is a special type of pupil condition that naturally occurs in all members of the Uchiha clan, though not all of them gain the ability to use it. Itachi hints at some dark ultimate purpose behind the Sharingan, which both he and Sasuke apparently know, but the series has yet to reveal exactly what that purpose is. The Sharingan is thought to be descended from the Byakugan, but grants the user different abilities and a different insight.
The Sharingan's first and most well known ability is to memorize any technique that it witnesses. It can memorize ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu with perfect accuracy, allowing the user to use the techniques as his own. In order to reproduce copied jutsu, however, one must have the necessary skill or ability to perform them. A prime example is Rock Lee's Strong Fist taijutsu. While Sasuke was able to copy some of Lee's moves, they put a much more significant strain on him since he hasn't trained nearly as hard as Lee has. In addition to physical skill, the Sharingan cannot allow the user to reproduce other kekkei genkai since the Sharingan user doesn't possess the same genetic trait. Additionally, Sharingan users cannot summon a creature which they have not made a contract with.
The Sharingan also grants the user incredible clarity of perception, allowing them to track fast-moving objects with ease and even predict the subsequent movements of those objects. The ability to track and predict movement is largely based on individual skill, as unskilled users have much more trouble tracking fast-moving objects. A fully-evolved Sharingan eye can track all but the quickest opponents, even if the user can't move at the same speed. This perception is also great enough to see through genjutsu, depending upon the skill of the user, and the ability to observe the movement and flow of chakra, but not to the same extent or clarity as the Byakugan. Additionally, the Sharingan grants the user exceptional analytical powers, allowing them to instinctively pick up on various visual clues with little difficulty. In one instance, Kakashi had to shut his eyes to avoid accidentally reading Naruto's lip movements while he was spoiling the ending of one of Kakashi's Icha Icha books. Sasuke was also able to reproduce answers on another person's test by watching their pencil movements during the Chunin Exam.
Finally, the Sharingan is capable of a unique brand of hypnosis that involves suggesting actions and thoughts to the opponent. When used in conjunction with the aforementioned aspects of the Sharingan, this allows the user to perfectly mimic every move their opponent makes, even before they do, making it appear as if the user can see the future. It also allows for other forms of hypnotism, such as putting an opponent to sleep or relaying memories to someone else.
The Sharingan does not automatically appear from birth in a user; instead, it will usually appear when the user is in a life-threatening situation, where the power of the Sharingan could save the user. After this first appearance, the user can then call up the Sharingan any time he or she pleases. (Due to its unique nature, Kakashi's Sharingan cannot be deactivated, and thus he usually covers it to conserve chakra.) The power of the Sharingan is judged through the number of tomoe in the eye, known as the "tomoe seal". It is not unheard of for a Sharingan user to have different amounts of tomoe in each eye. For example, Sasuke's Sharingan initially had two tomoe in one eye and one in the other. Upon his first regular activation of it, it had evolved to two tomoe in each eye. He evolved it to three in each eye during his battle with Naruto at the Valley of the End. A fully-matured Sharingan has three tomoe in each eye.
It is possible to transplant Sharingan eyes from one person to another, as occurred with Kakashi and his deceased comrade Obito Uchiha. However, transplanted eyes do not work as well in a non-Uchiha body, causing more strain on the user, as is the case with Kakashi – extended use of his Sharingan will cause him to collapse. Uchiha clan members are not burdened with this weakness; while activation of the Sharingan does consume chakra, the drain is so small as to be almost insignificant. Itachi in particular seems to have no trouble keeping his Sharingan activated near-constantly.
The characters who currently possess the Sharingan include Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, and Kakashi Hatake. Kakashi's eye was given to him by Obito Uchiha, one of his teammates in his original three-man ninja team. Obito developed it in a battle against a camouflaging Rock shinobi. During this battle, Kakashi lost his left eye when he was attacked, hence his scar. Near the end of the battle, the right side of Obito's body was crushed under a giant rock, and as his last act Obito had Rin, a medical ninja, remove his left eye and implant it in Kakashi's empty eye socket, thus allowing Kakashi to use the Sharingan even though he does not have Uchiha blood. This is also why only his left eye is a Sharingan eye.

Mangekyo Sharingan~

The Mangekyo Sharingan (, Mangekyō Sharingan?, literally "Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye") is a heightened form of Sharingan. The Mangekyo Sharingan is distinguished from a normal Sharingan through its appearance, which changes the form of the tomoe seal. However, unlike the Sharingan, it may have a different appearance between the users, as Kakashi's version is significantly different than Itachi's. Those who have the potential to obtain it must make a great sacrifice in order to obtain it—according to Itachi, they must kill their closest friend. Itachi does in fact do this to obtain his version, but Kakashi has noted that everyone he cared about had died long before the start of the series, so how he developed his own variant is unknown. It has also been implied that use of the Mangekyo Sharingan may deteriorate the user's normal eyesight.
In the long history of the Uchiha clan, only a few have been able to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan. At present, there are only two people who are known to possess the Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi being one and Kakashi being the other. At the time of the Uchiha massacre, Itachi told his younger brother Sasuke that, if he was to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan, there would be three people capable of using it. Itachi's statement may suggest that there is (or was at that time) another Mangekyo Sharingan user somewhere; however, he could also have meant that there are only three people left who are capable of acquiring the Mangekyo Sharingan. Given that Itachi had just killed every other member of the Uchiha clan, this statement could simply be taken as a matter of fact: Kakashi, Sasuke, and Itachi were the only known characters left alive with Sharingan eyes, so no one else had the potential to obtain it.

Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan~

Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan.
Itachi Uchiha gained the Mangekyo Sharingan by killing his best friend, Shisui Uchiha. With the Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi is able to use the two most powerful jutsu of the Uchiha clan. The first is Tsukuyomi (, Tsukuyomi? literally "Moon Reader"), named after the Shinto moon god, Tsukuyomi. Upon making eye contact with an opponent, Itachi can use Tsukuyomi to transport them to an illusionary world where days amount to mere seconds in the real world. Because Itachi is in control of this world, he can torture an opponent in any way imaginable, leaving them crippled and in a state of mental collapse. The second jutsu is Amaterasu (, Amaterasu? literally "Shining Heaven"), named for the Shinto sun goddess, Amaterasu. While the jutsu has only been performed offscreen, it is shown to be capable of burning through the strongest of materials by creating a jet-black flame said to be as hot as the sun and capable of burning for seven days and seven nights.

Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan~

Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan.
Kakashi Hatake developed his own version of the Mangekyo Sharingan during the timeskip. Unlike Itachi's version, which is used to destroy a target, Kakashi uses his to create a localized interdimensional space-time warp, allowing him to target any object and send it to another dimension, achieving the same result. Kakashi used this new jutsu to warp a segment of Deidara's right arm into a different dimension. He immediately aimed at Deidara's head for a second attack, but missed. He subsequently uses it again in Chapter 278 to counter Deidara's ultimate move, which would otherwise level the entire forest they were fighting in. The attack requires considerable effort to aim precisely and appears to leave Kakashi's chakra significantly drained; he collapses after using the technique three times in a single day (compared to his other original move, Lightning Blade, which he can use four times a day).
The appearance of the pupil and tomoe in Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan differ from that of Itachi's; Kakashi's looks more like a pinwheel. Before this was shown, it was thought that one had to kill their best friend to acquire the Mangekyo Sharingan. This clearly isn't the case with Kakashi, who stated long before developing his Mangekyo Sharingan that everyone close to him was already dead. The only known now-deceased person that could be described as his "closest friend" was Obito, who died shortly after giving Kakashi his Sharingan eye. While Kakashi may have felt responsible for Obito's death at the time, he certainly didn't kill Obito himself, and it wouldn't explain why it took him so many years to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan. Thus, the means behind its development and the actual meaning of the "requirement" are currently unknown.

Shikotsumyaku~

Kimimaro manipulating his bones
Shikotsumyaku (, Shikotsumyaku? literally "Dead Bone Pulse")2 is the kekkei genkai of the extinct Kaguya clan, which gave them the ability to manipulate their own skeletal structure. They had free control over the cells responsible for bone growth and replacement, allowing them to manipulate their bones at will. They could protrude their bones out through their skin, change their bone density, and could even completely regenerate a lost bone. An example of this is seen with the Finger Bullet Drill (, Teshi Sendan?), which fires the user's fingertip bones like bullets. All this makes their bodies virtually indestructible, and any point of contact on the body could become as sharp as a spear tip, giving them a nearly perfect defense. The ability seems to be rare amongst the clan members, as Kimimaro Kaguya was the only one to exhibit it out of his entire clan.
Most of the Shikotsumyaku abilities came in the form of bone-utilizing dances named after flowers. The most basic of these dances is the Dance of the Camellia (, Tsubaki no Mai?), which uses the humerus of either arm as a sword. The Dance of the Willow (, Yanagi no Mai?) uses extensions of bone from the body to attack the opponent, coupled with large amounts of acrobatics to increase the attacks' effectiveness. The defensive Dance of the Larch (, Karamatsu no Mai?) uses growths of the user's preexisting skeletal structure to ensnare the opponent and stab them as the bones are growing. The Dance of the Clematis (, Tessenka no Mai?) is an attack with two parts, the first being Vine (, Tsuru?) and the second being Flower (, Hana?). With Vine, the user rips out their spinal cord and use it to trap the opponent. Once immobile, the user uses Flower to form the body's strongest bones into a giant drill on the user's arm to crush the stationary opponent. The final dance, Dance of the Seedling Fern (, Sawarabi no Mai?), creates a giant forest of bone spikes that emerge from the ground and impale the opponent.

Soma no Ko~ (2 headed guy don't know his name)

Sakon and Ukon separating
Soma no Ko (, Sōma no Kō?, literally "Attack of an Evil Spirit Pair") is the unique ability of Sakon and Ukon that allows them to unify some or all of one's body with the other's body. Typically, Ukon is dormant in Sakon's body, with his head protruding from the back of Sakon's neck. When Sakon is in need of assistance, Ukon can bring out some of his body parts to aid Sakon in blocking or attacking. Examples of this are seen in the forms of Multiple Connecting Punches (, Tarenken?) and Multiple Connecting Kicks (, Tarenkyaku?), where Ukon's arms and legs emerge from those of Sakon to add force to his physical attacks.
If needed, Ukon can separate from Sakon's body so that the two can attack independently. While this can be an effective way of double teaming an opponent, Ukon is not used to being outside of or leading Sakon's body and is much weaker when he does so. Despite this, the separated brothers are capable of merging with the bodies of others through Parasite Demon Demolition Technique (, Kisei Kikai no Jutsu?). Once they have done so, Sakon or Ukon can destroy the host's cells from the inside, slowly killing them. While within another's body, however, they are vulnerable to whatever injuries befall upon the host, in theory allowing the host to commit suicide to kill either of the brothers.

Characters

(Sasuke Uchiha,Sakura Haruno,Naruto Uzumaki and their sensei Kakashi Hatake)

Naruto has a large and colorful cast of characters, running a gamut of detailed histories and complex personalities, and allowing many of them their fair share in the spotlight; they are also seen to grow and mature with the series, as it spans several years. As fitting for a coming-of-age saga, Naruto's world constantly expands and thickens, and his social relations are no exception – during his introduction he has only his teacher and the village's leader for sympathetic figures, but as the story progresses, more and more people become a part of his story.
The students at the Ninja Academy, where the story begins, are split up into squads of three after their graduation and become Genin. Each squad is assigned an experienced sensei. These core squads form a basis for the characters' interactions later in the series, where characters are chosen for missions for their team's strength and complementary skills; Naruto's squad 7 becomes the social frame where Naruto is acquainted with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, and their sensei Kakashi Hatake, forming the core of his world-in-the-making. The other three-man teams of his former classmates form another such layer, as Naruto connects with them to various degrees, learning of their motives, vulnerabilities, and aspirations, often relating them to his own. The groups of three are not limited to the comrades Naruto's age – groups in the story in general come in threes and multiples of three with very few exceptions.
Sensei-student relationships play a significant role in the series; Naruto has a number of mentors with whom he trains and learns, most notably Iruka Umino, the first ninja to recognize Naruto's existence, Kakashi Hatake, his team leader, and Jiraiya, and there are often running threads of tradition and tutelage binding together several generations. These role models provide guidance for their students not only in the ninja arts but also in a number of Japanese aesthetics and philosophical ideals. Techniques, ideals, and mentalities noticeably run in families, Naruto often being exposed to the abilities and traditions of generation-old clans in his village when friends from his own age group demonstrate them, or even achieve improvements of their own; it is poignantly noted that Naruto's generation is particularly talented.
Many of the greater lingering mysteries of the series are questions of character motives and identity. The legacy of Naruto's parents, the goals that guide Kabuto Yakushi, the identity of the mysterious Akatsuki leader – these are only a few of the fundamental unanswered questions of "who" and, by proxy, "why" currently at the core of the series. The story is remarkably character-driven; the theme of causality runs inherently throughout the series as characters reciprocate for their past actions and relationships. In this respect, characters' respective destinies are very much intertwined, and large emphasis is placed on comradeship and 'bonds' between the community or individual.
Character names often borrow from Japanese mythology, folklore and literature (such as the names borrowed from the folk-tale Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari), or are otherwise elaborate puns; often there is a noticeable influence of the story behind the name shouldered by the character.[9]

Konoha and it's Demon fox trouble

(pictured Naruto Uzumaki and a shot of Konohagakure)

Twelve years before the events at the focus of the series, the nine-tailed demon fox attacked Konohagakure. It was a powerful demon indeed; a single swing of one of its nine tails would raise tsunamis and flatten mountains. It raised chaos and slaughtered many people, until the leader of the Leaf Village – the Fourth Hokage – defeated it by sacrificing his own life to seal the demon inside a newly-born child, whose origins are as yet unknown. That child's name was Naruto Uzumaki.
The Fourth Hokage was celebrated as a hero for sealing the demon fox away. He wanted Naruto to be respected in a similar light by being the containment vessel for the demon fox. The village he grew up in, however, mostly shunned Naruto; they regarded him as if he were the demon fox itself and mistreated him throughout most of his childhood.
A decree made by the Third Hokage made it so that the other villagers were forbidden to mention the event to anyone, even to their own children. However, this did not stop them from treating Naruto like an outcast. Although their children did not specifically know why their parents treated Naruto the way they did, they learned through example to despise the boy. As a result, Naruto grew up as an orphan in a lonesome atmosphere without friends, family, or acknowledgment. He could not force people to befriend him, so he sought acknowledgment and attention the only way he knew – through pranks and mischief. However, that soon changed after Naruto graduated from the Ninja Academy by using his Multiple Shadow Clone Technique to save his teacher, Iruka Umino, from the renegade ninja Mizuki. That encounter gave Naruto two insights: that he was the container of the demon fox, and that there was someone besides the Third Hokage who actually cared for and acknowledged him. His graduation from the academy opened a gateway to the events and people that would change and define his world, including his way of the ninja for the rest of his life.
Naruto maintains a balance between drama and comedy, with plenty of action interspersed. It follows Naruto and his friends' personal growth and development as ninja, and emphasizes their interactions with each other and the influence of their backgrounds on their personalities. Naruto finds two friends and comrades in Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, two fellow young ninja who are assigned with him to form a three-person team under a very experienced sensei named Kakashi Hatake. Naruto also confides in other characters as well that he has met through the Chunin Exam. They learn new abilities, get to know each other and other villagers better, and experience a coming-of-age journey as Naruto dreams of becoming the Hokage of the Leaf Village.
Naruto places strong emphasis on character development. Almost all outcomes are a result of decisions, character, and personality; very few things happen just because of chance. At first, emphasis is placed on Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, who are the members of Team 7. However, other characters are developed, such as Kakashi, Guy, and Jiraiya, as well as Naruto's peers in the other Genin teams and other villages.
Several major villains came into play as well, the first being Zabuza Momochi, a missing-nin from Kirigakure, and his partner, Haku. Later, in the Chunin Exam arc, Orochimaru is introduced as an S-Class missing-nin at the top of Konoha's most wanted list. Later, a mysterious organization called Akatsuki begins to pursue Naruto in order to take the demon fox inside him and harness its power.
